About Dr. WL Wilkins
Wendy Wilkins is the owner and Editor of Cat BYTES. She is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology, and has over 20 years of experience in veterinary practice, academia, research and regulatory medicine.
She is also a contributing writer. Prior to writing for Cat BYTES, Dr. Wilkins authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and, most recently, wrote a book on puppy care titled “Perfect Puppy, Perfect Dog“.
Her love of animals and passion for veterinary medicine are deeply rooted in her childhood experiences of growing up on a farm in Canada, where pet pigs, calves, goats and chickens were just as common as pet cats and dogs. She currently lives on an acreage on the Canadian prairies, with her husband and two cats – a Bengal cat named Roo and a Sphynx cat named Joey.
Dr. Wilkins is an avid reader and writer, with a passion for making sure her clients and the public get the correct information when they need it. In her spare time she enjoys curling up with a good book or gardening (when it’s not winter and the garden isn’t covered in 5 feet of snow!)
